About me

I am a personality psychologist and behavioral scientist with over two decades of experience in research.

In January 2023, I transitioned from academia to industry and began a new position as a senior behavioral scientist at Apple.

Previously, I directed an academic research lab at the University of Oregon. We studied how differences in personality, status, culture, and identity are expressed in social interactions and online settings; how those differences drive the way people form impressions and treat each other; and how to validly measure personality and behavior in diverse populations. We did this work with a strong emphasis on rigor, transparency, and methodological innovation.

I have also been active in the open science movement in psychology, working to make the field more inclusive and transparent. I have advanced these goals through leadership in professional societies, teaching, speaking, blogging, and podcasting.
